So I was on Pixiv the other day and ended up faving a whole avalanche of Deidara fanart. Because fandoms come and go, but TV boyfriends are forever. Ugh just look at that tongue. He makes those silly Akatsuki hats look good. :F

Team 7, pre-timeskip and post-timeskip.
This is another set I put waaaay too much thought into. Pre-timeskip, they have almost identical outfits, except for the colors; post-timeskip, they go off in their own design directions. I also tried to keep their pre-timeskip duds simple and free of frippery, and then added lots of frills and bling post-timeskip, because that’s how it works in the SM-verse — you get foofier as you level up. Sasuke’s a partial exception because even though he’s the most powerful post-timeskip, he’s also a missing-nin so he shouldn’t be too flashy, hence his lack of tiara. In the end I compromised by just giving him a double-skirt and fancy sleeves, but keeping his chesty area bare, because post-timeskip Sasuke is a total nudist.
The wands are also symbolic of their signature attacks. Naruto is holding two different kinds of Rasengan; Sasuke is holding a Chidori and a Chidori sword; and Sakura is holding a kunai (because the author couldn’t be arsed to give her a signature attack pre-timeskip) and a handful of greenish punching chakra.
Honestly I think Sasuke’s designs are my favorite of this set. He makes such a wonderful girl.

Please tell me you’re just saying that because you haven’t bothered to read much and don’t know what you’re talking about because THERE IS SO MUUUUCH ;_____; and for all its problems there are some awesome things okay and ONE OF THEM IS DEFINITELY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
I mean for goodness’ sakes there’s a reason why the three main characters—Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke—are nigh-unrecognizable if you compare them from the first volume to the latest. Change has HAPPENED, it’s just been so slight and so subtle that you barely notice.
Fuuuu— you’re just making me want to start my series on Awesome Ladies In Naruto And Why We Should Love Them More Than Kishimoto. 8I BECAUSE DAMN IT WOMAN I WILL DO THIS.
NARUTO IS TO ME WHAT DBZ IS TO EVERYONE ELSE, apparently. Hahaha, I actually stopped reading a couple volumes after the time skip because the lack of any real forward motion with the characters was driving me up the wall. I’m very glad to hear this (lack of character progress) is not (no longer?) the case!! AND I WILL TRUST YOUR JUDGMENT.
Also, believe me, I haven’t touched Naruto in years, and I’m pretty sure I love the women of Naruto more than Kishimoto.

Hijacking this conversation to both confirm and deny:
It is absolutely true that Naruto has character development.
It’s stupid character development.
It’s nonsensical character development.
It’s laughably ridiculously badly written character development that transforms the manga into a solid wall of So Bad It’s Good.
But character development is definitely present.
(However, I would argue that “slight” and “subtle” are two words that do not apply in any way to Naruto, especially not the character development. Naruto and its character development are the very antitheses of subtlety.)
